Christmas!

It was a slow start this Christmas morning. Kristy was a bit nervoous at the thought that Santa had stopped by while she was asleep and didn't wake her. She was nervous also about seeing what he brought her. Brian carried her out and it only took a few minutes to get her ready and going. It took just about a half hour to get her through opening all the gifts from under the tree. And at three in the afternoon she is still trying to get through playing with everything.
She has really had a great 3rd Christmas. We have all enjoyed being home for the holidays. We hope all of you have had a great Christmas, enjoying the spirit of the holidays and the family and friends who bless our lives. Merry Christmas!

Bad Words!

Kristy is such a good girl, a bit of a tattle tell, but there are worse things, right? We just had a conversation worthy of sharing. Kristy understands you shouldn't say bad words, but she is a bit confused about what words are bad, or not bad at all. Kristy was watching a movie while we were getting dinner ready, when I hear "Mommy, ____ said a bad word!" I asked Brian to check and see what she is watching that she is hearing bad words. A minute later I hear "Go tell mommy what was said". Kristy comes out and says, "Map said a bad Word!" Now the face in the picture above is as close as it comes to the disappointment on her face at this moment. For those who don't know, Map is Dora the Explorers friend. I asked, knowing Map would NEVER say a bad word, "what did Map say?"... (at this point Brian is walking down the hall to hide his laughter) she responds "Map said SHIT!" "What?" "Map said Shit!" I cant hold it in, I am laughing. Where did my poker face go at such an important time. Turns out she was watching a video, so we went to figure out when map made the statement. As it replays Map is saying "Check" to check off the places they have been, and Kristy turns around and says "SEEEE, I told you." How do you explain it to your child without saying the two words that are confused, so I start to clearify... "Kristy map is saying CHeck not SHit" She is thoroughly confused, so I say it one more time, a little slower, to make sure she hears the difference and explain that check is okay to say... Oh childhood!

Kristy posing w/ the Christmas tree

We got the tree decorated and had to take photos. Kristy put on all the ornaments she could reach and directed Brian to the higher locations. Our first year of truly decorating the tree together. Nothing but fun. Now I must escape to help eat the cookies we made this evening.
Enjoy!

30 Weeks Update

Today I hit the 30 week mark. Yeah! We also had a doctors appt. Baby is doing well, still has a heart beat and I am not doing shabby either. They took a measurement of my belly and said that if I continue to measure 2 weeks ahead of my due date we will get another ultrasound around week 36 to verify baby size. So if we loose 2 weeks somewhere in the countdown, don't be surprised. Kristy has really stated to get excited about having a sister, she will count the people in our house, just one thing she enjoys doing, she always counts me and my belly... or her sister. Hope all is well and until next time....

30 Weeks

Vegas and Thanksgiving

We had a great quiet thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa Graff. Jill & Robert and Mark & Marenwere there with their families and of course Nana Chapman. It was a beautiful day and good time. The next day after experiencing minimal shopping we hit the road to Vegas. We were able to meet up with Dennis, Christine and kids for a brief time and attending the wedding of some friends. Kristy got to attend a 4th birthday party for her dear friend Jade (Kristi McFaddens daughter) and has not stopped talking about how she misses her friend. We stayed at the Luxor, wasnt bad at all, except the pictures everywhere of the Red Guy! Kristy saw Carrot Tops pic first when we were checking in and of course everytime we turned around after that. Not sure why but she decided she doesnt like the red haired guy. It became a cry of disgust everytime she saw his pic... "MOMMMY, its the RED GUY!" somewhat funny. Good times.
We are thankful for the opportunity to visit with so many friends and family. We are also grateful to have learned to never travel to Vegas on a holiday weekend! (3 hours turned to 7.5 hours)

Boyfriend

SO she has a boyfriend... you say a friend that is a boy, she says no a boyfriend. I guess the difference is you play with boys who are friends and not with boyfriends. The life of a three... almost 4 year old. LOL

26 Weeks

I am at the 26 week mark, figure I better get some pics posted. We were informed today that a little boy in Kristys class has been telling everyone that Kristy is his girlfriend. SO tonight I asked her if she has a boyfriend. She said yes. I asked who, she said Hunter Sapp. So we will get a pic of them together so you all can see her first boyfriend.

Halloween Update

Halloween was fun and busy, with school and work we were running like crazy, but pulled it together in time to get some trick or treating in. We went out with the Mruk Family, we met them through Brians new job. Nicole and Kristy are about the same age, and Kaitlyn is a bit older. Kristy ran as soon as she spotted a glowing porch. She was so excited and had a great time. The next morning she woke and said she was hungry, I came out to find her sorting through candy to find the ideal piece. It hurt me to crush her excitement over her earnings from the night before. With the promise of being allowed some later in the day, she was willing to settle for a bowl of cereal. I have to post from the air show also, it took place the weekend before halloween, but these pics were more pressing than the air show, I will post them soon though. Take care.

USS Midway

We took a one day trip down to San Diego to visit the USS Midway. It is a ship that Brian's dad had been assigned to during his Navy career. I was surprised at how memories came to me of visiting the ships my dad was assigned to. Kristy was loving how maze like it was, every door you went through gave a new direction to go to make you feel lost: Go down the stairs, walk in what feels like a circle and go up stairs that look the same only to find yourself in a new space. It was very fun. Took just a few pics. Enjoy.

Disneyland

We took a day and went down to Disneyland. We tried to do the things we weren't able to do the last few times we had gone. We went on a few rides we had bypassed previously, we watched the parades, rode the train around the park and just tried to enjoy our last visit for a while. So here are a few pics and stories from the events of the day. Enjoy.

Meeting the characters

Kristy had a blast at disneyland. The one thing we did this time that we hadnt before is went to see as many characters as possible. The two that had the largest impact on the day were Mickey and Jessie (from Toy Story).
When Kristy met with Mickey Mouse she told him "I'm sorry Mickey" when asked why she told him because she was not happy last time she visited him at his house. He gave her a hug and eased her conscious that it was ok.
Later in the day she was waiting for Woody to come out to visit and Jessie came out instead. Jessie sat down to watch the show with the kids and visited with the kids for a few minutes. Kristy ran back and forth telling us what Jessie was saying. Kristy supplied that Jessie was very hungry and Kristy wanted to get her some food or drink. Kristy was then lucky enough to sit on Jessies lap for the first half of the show. Kristy has yet to learn the courtesies of watching a performance and was up and down enough times to thoroughly embarass us. It wasnt too bad until she started talking to Miss Kris during the end of the performance. Miss Kris was able to get back to the show by inviting Kristy to sit on the stage with them.... when it was all over she ran over to us and said, "I had a good day", which of course translates to "that made my day!".
When she talked to Ariel they talked about Ariels movie and fish. They even made fish faces at eachother. Mary Poppins and Woody were very brief interaction, long enough only to get the pictures.
It was a very fun day, we watched the lights parade and then went to do one more thing, but before we could make it happen Kristy passed out. Whe was exhausted and only wanted to sleep.

20 Weeks and Counting

Today was our third appointment to check on the baby. Everything was good, heart rate was 156 bpm, and lots of movement. We were a bit concerned that this baby would be bashful like Kristy and hide its sex, but that was not the case. She was more than willing to let us know. The other information is that by the measurements, they would estimate the birthday to be February 14th. They are not changing the due date of course, but were happy to tell us. So the countdown begins, as of this coming monday I will officially be at the half way point and begin counting down.... yeah!

Kristy and Daddy

Kristy cheering for Daddies Return

Daddy is Home

Brian is Home. He is a Federal Weapons Instructor. We are so happy to have him home. He brought gifts for Kristy, one of which is her halloween costume, a Longhorns cheerleading outfit. She loves it and her other gifts, but loves nothing as much as having Daddy home.

Changes, changes, changes

Kristy is growing up too fast. We have moved to a new house, as they will soon be demolishing the house we had been in. It has a much smaller yard and is smaller, but overall it is better, it is modern and insulated. There is nothing worse than moving, unpacking and finding that everything that seemed clean is actually not so. It's amazing what good lighting does. It has been a vey crazy month and a half.

Kristy wants to help me, so here is her update:

Back to the update. Brian will graduate from his Combat arms training the last week of September. Kristy is counting down to Daddy coming home, so we can go to Disneyland. One of the many benefits to remaining at Edwards for a few more years. We will hopefully find out what sex our second and final child will be. I will post as soon as we know. Everything else is pretty much the usual chaos of life. Til next time.
