January... ups and downs!

We started off the year with a party for Brian on the 9th. It was a chance for friends to come by and celebrate and say see you later to Brian before his deployment. We were so very excited to have Sam come up from San Diego to visit and enjoy the night.Continuing with the month on the 12th Brian was presented a commendation medal for his service here at Edwards. It was great they presented it out at his work on the firing line. A very great day.
We also took the opportunity on the 14th to take some family pictures. The checklist of things to do before his deployment seems to be almost complete.

As many of you know here in California we have had some major rainstorms last week. Well the 21st was Brians 34 birthday. We went about our regular days and his way to lunch Brian came to a turn taken numerous times while here at Edwards and had something abnormal happen. He hit a large puddle of water that caused him to hydro plane. The car turned and caught a dirt berm that rolled the car over. He was able to get out on his own and call the law enforcement desk, Myself and his supervisor. The first responders arrived about that time and the shock and pain began to set in. I got there and he was surrounded by firefighters who were putting the c-collar on him to prep him to be transported to the hospital. It was a pretty big mess all around but we had our extended family of the Edwards community that stepped up and helped make it less traumatic of a day then it could have been. In shock and confusion myself they were able to tell me what they were going to take care of things for me so I could ride in the ambulance with him. We spent 7 hours in the ER, 5 of it he was in the collar waiting for the results of the CT scan. They ended up releasing him with a diagnosis of a mild concussion. He has 3 good gooses eggs on his head to support that. Thankfully he was able to come home with only this. He is suffering from a few symptoms of the concussion and we are optomistic and hopeful that he will fully recover. Tuesday he will be assessed to determine whether he will be going to training on wednesday for two weeks, or if they can send him to the class to follow. If he can make it into one of the two trainings he will be going with his team on the 6 month deployment leaving late in Feb.... I will update as soon as I can.
