School picture

SO I didn't love Kristys school picture. I had her do the retakes in Oct and got her new pics in Nov. I am a slacker yet again and have not gotten any out to anyone. I am posting it here so you all can see and let me know what size you would like so I can make it happen.

Girl Scout Cookies

Cookies are for sale now. If you would like to order some let me know and I will have Kristy call to ask you if you want to order. They are $4 a box.

They have:
Lemon Chalet Cremes (Vanilla sandwich w/ a hint of cinnamon-ginger spice)- about 20 cookies, 8 oz.,
Trefoils (shortbread)- about 36 cookies, 9 oz.,
Do-si-dos (Oatmeal with peanut butter creme filling)- about 20 cookies, 8 oz.,
Samoas (Carmel, coconut and chocolate)- about 15 cookies, 7.5 oz.,
Dulce de leche (milk carmel chips and stripes)- about 15 cookies, 6 oz.,
sugar free chocolate chips - about 15 cookies, 5.5 oz.,
Tagalongs (cookie, peanut butter chocolate coating)- about 15 cookies, 6.5 oz.,
Thin Mints (MMMmmmmmmm) - about 28 cookies, 9 oz.

Let me know and we can set you up if you are interested. If not no worries, as you have read previously I have my own reservations about buying the cookies. My waistline is more important than eating cookies (of course there are always friends to sabotage....lol). 'Til next time. I think money is due mid-late feb. I'll update this post when I confirm.

TDY

I went on a temporary duty (TDY) assignment for work. I got to go to Vegas for 5 days/4 nights for the West Coast Picture Framing Convention. It was really informative and the knowledge I gained will be very useful in day to day operations at work. Another fun fact I learned is that there are only about 15,000 Custom framers in the world!... wow. Brian was able to join me for part of the time. We were able to squeeze in a little bit of fun. We went to see the finals of the PBA bowling tournament that was in Vegas. It was as good a game as you can get with bowling... won/lost on the second to last ball! They set up the bleachers and chairs on the lanes, I find that so interesting. It was very fun.
We also went to see Wayne Brady "Making it up". It was a great show. And did you know not only is he a great improve comic but he is a singer. He has released some music on iTunes and the disc are out as well. I really like the track "Ordinary".
I stayed at the Excalibur and took this shot of NYNY at some point from a position that is difficult to get to and that is all I am saying because I could tell on myself if I say more.
I really spent more time in seminars and at the show than anywhere else, I just didn't really take many pictures. So here is one that I thought was kinda cool. I was trying to get images of everything because by day three I was so overloaded with info that I took pictures of everything so I could recall what I was seeing. This one just happened to have the light reflecting so that my reflection showed up. I like it...lol. I'm thoroughly exhausted though so I will post more later.

Circuit City Going out of Business...

Thought we would check out the deals, not much yet, its still too early. But did find one possible supporting factor for the companies demise.

Are you smarter?

This ongoing game just won't go away, so I will start sharing with you all. Todays are you smarter than a 5th grader question is...
"Why is this finger called the 'Pinky'?"
Hint: Word to the wise do NOT google pinky alone.....
feel free to post your response, but no cheating only answer if you haven't looked it up yet. Happy thinking.

Peas!

Katy is starting to vocalize with a lot of work. Music has been a big influence, she loves to "sing" along with any music whether it be radio, commercials, disney or guitar hero. She in the last week has started to say "gump" or "grump" for grandpa. Tonight she had the play phone and walked down the hall saying "nana". She says "babe", "up" and "gain" = again. Ask her who are you she says "me". she says peas and cheese. So she is getting there. She also threatened the other night to try to climb out of her crib. Thankfully I think she realized the fall may not be worth it, but I feel we will very soon be moving her to a big girl bed. Yeah! She is such a sweet girl. She is so curious and stubborn. But when she wants to share her love she is so cute.

Her cheese face. Got a little too close to the camera...oops.

Cookie Kickoff

Pics are all mixed up but I guess that happens with a long day of fun to report on. This was the last event of the day (aside from the drive home). The girls (all 18 of our Edwards girls) got on the jump castle and almost made it out unscathed. Kristy had a collision with one of the girls and they exchanged goose eggs. Kristy posing I think it was to show off her crown cheek but the sun was so hot that I did't catch it. Kinda a cute attempt at a pose though.
The day wasn't as much about the cookies as we thought it was more about all the things girls scouts do. This was set up by a troop who have gymnist. Each of the girls got a turn to get up on the horse and strike a pose.
There was make-up vendors who set up to put shadow or lipstick on the girls. I think they ran out early on (most of the girls didn't have anything on or it was so sheer that it didn't show up.... either way the girls thought they got makeup so its all good.
Kristys daisy troop and a couple moms/leaders in the back. The meeting before the get together they tye dyed shirts so they all matched. It was nice to be able to better keep an eye on the girls in all the chaos.
They had a booth from one of the local lakes... couldn't tell you shich, they host camping for scouts. They had a tub full of some sort of microscopic creatures. They were swimming about and the girls thought it was really cool to see how big they looked through the magnifying glass.
They o course had face painting. Kristy opted for a crown. It didn't last long because they used the halloween type costume makeup instead of paint. Kristy only took about 2 minutes to smear it off because it itched. It looked cute while it lasted...lol.
One of the troops set up a booth to make swaps. Swaps are pins made with the troop number on them that the girls can then swap with other troop girls to have a reminder of who they met.
Another troop had a table that showed some of the robots that were made for a contest they have that goes all the way up to nation wide competition. The girls build robots out of legos and get a trophy and scholarship for winning the competition (I think).
Of course the first picture ends up as the last... Kristy eating lunch. We stopped to get lunch and had a little fast food picnic before tackling the event.
It was a very long day we finally got home at about 6:45. The unexpected heat combined with all the walking and activities, not to mention having almost 30 of us trying to stay together.... its great to be home.

Girl Scouts

As most of you know Kristy is in girl scouts, she is a daisy this year and is loving every minute. Tomorrow we are going with her troop to LA for the Cookie Kickoff....
Let me just say if you want or need to buy the cookies please order from Kristy. I will get somebody to mail the cookies for me because I am terrible about getting to the post office but with some help I promise you will get them.
To the reason I am posting, GS have a great marketing plan. They sell these little $4.00 boxes of cookies via these innocent sweet little girls that we all know and love and when do they sell the addictive and mostly delicious guarantee to gain 15 lbs cookies. 2-4 weeks into the new year! 2-4 weeks after we all vow to make this the year we lose weight. Right when we are feeling confident enough in our diets that we say, sure I'll buy a couple boxes and they will last me all year with this great new diet! Or maybe you're the one that at the 2-4 week point is feeling the itch for something sweet and delicious... and the cute little girls are just the excuse to say forget the diet.... anyway. The cookies really are good and worth it but I thought I would share what I just realized about this great organization, they are out to sabotage! Really it is a good program for the kids.

Haha

Kristy got a MP3 player for Christmas. We have gotten it loaded with all kinds of great music for Kristy... Hannah, Jonas Bros, Disney and her favorite song.... Barbie Girl. She says it is a barbie doll singing about getting dolled up. Her favorite part is when it says "Lets go potty"
hahahahahahahhaaaahahahah
No worries we have corrected her. So she now sings it lets go party.
