Eating and Doctors

Katy is getting a little bit of food now. She has had cereal about half a dozen times and tonight had green beans for her first "food". She seemed to like it well enough, but made a mess all the same.
The girls really respond well to each other. Katy will smile from ear to ear when Kristy pays her attention and Kristy loves to love on Katy. We got very lucky with how sweet our little girls are.
On another note: Brian went to the eye doctor on Saturday to see about getting 20/20 and possibly having laser eye correction. He found out that surgery will not be the best option for him, it would require doing it by hand and that allows for human error... scary, so they glasses/ contact correction are going to work at least for now. He had the doctor take a look at the girls eyes as well, Kristy is pretty much 20/20 and Katy is OK for now but could possibly end up with problems... only time will tell.

Visitor!

We also had Steve, Brian's good friend, stop in. He is stationed in Germany and was nice enough to come visit while on vacation. It was a short visit but it was nice to catch up. Maybe we will make a trip to Germany for a longer visit? Funny thought, hey Steve, we are going to come crash at your place, hope you have room! Its amazing how much adding the kids has changed traveling. Oh we will see.

4 months

Just a quick post to give the details of the appointment. Katy is now 14 lbs 4 oz. and 24 3/4 inches long. She has dropped to 75% range for kids her age. When she was born she was at about 100-110% for newborns. The Dr. said everything is fine as far as her growth is concerned, that she will probably continue to plateau until she gets to a lower range (about 30% or so) and then will hold steady, but that for some reason kids who are born big have this tendency. So that is that. A few pics I took today and more stories and info will hopefully come this weekend.

Taking a Nap

I know everyone is one the edge of their seat, wondering, whats up with CHP? Well Brian went to his interview. From the best of our knowledge he did well (I am sure he did). Unfortunately he has to wait until he receives a letter to tell him he passed, and you guessed it.... wait 4-6 weeks. So we are trying to not think about it until something arrives. Oh the joy, the nerves and the anticipation.

The girls are doing great. I will update on them some more this weekend, Katy has her 4 month check up and shots. Yeah!
On the other hand I am doing my best to stay sane. Work has been so busy that I don't know which way to turn... it seems I figure it out just in time to be interrupted and forget where I was. It is not too terrible because I know I can only do what I can do, and I do what I do the best I can do it, but it is a LITTLE stressful to have work due and scheduled and no time to accomplish it... in a few weeks I am sure I will figure it out and catch up but until then, well I will be taking deep breaths and trying to be productive. Oh the anxiety and stress. At least I have a great family to come home to and enjoy.

Alright...

Its time for us to stop the sweet and innocent game of omission. We have some exciting news to share so here it is.
Brian has applied for the CHP Academy. Our enlistment is up in Feb. and the mutual feeling is that re-enlisting is a last option. Really it is the plan unless he has a job offer... so he applied and took the written test the beginning of may (the pics from LA- the real reason we were there). He got a letter two weeks ago saying he had passed and was invited to the next step of testing this weekend. So Saturday he went for the physical testing... he passed. So today (Sunday) he went to do the psychological test. We are not concerned about him passing it. This Thursday he will go to be interviewed and so long as he does well there they will start his background investigation. It is looking like there is a very good chance that re-enlisting is not going to be in our future! Yeah! We are trying not to get ahead of ourselves but it is very exciting to be facing such a big change. Hopefully all will go well and Brian will get hired to do the job he loves so much. (He enjoyed everyday that he went to work as a patrol in the 6-8 months prior to his retraining)There is a lot of work left to do to make it happen but the parts we were most concerned about are over.

Kristy asked today if she could call Nana Platt before lunch. I said ok.. she picked up the phone and dialed the number she has had memorized for quite a while and began talking. Upon having lunch set in front of her she told Nana that it is time to eat, but she will talk to her while she eats. I watched, thoroughly amused and decided to take a few pics (shouldn't be a surprise). She is so animated when she is talking, it's great, she is great!


Katy is moving so much, I got proof for everyone. We put her in her chair to sit up with out being held. She was happy for a while and decided to arch her back a bit. In doing so she successfully put herself on the verge of falling out of the chair.
*buckle is not for looks- designed for safety. Who'd have thought?
Another place she can sit up is in her swing. not only can she sit up but there are toys that she can play with. She hits them to make them spin and holds them to look them over. Its so great to see her developing.

Eight Years

So on Memorial day we spent the day celebrating our 8th anniversary! It was a great day. We spent the day as a family and went out for dinner. Nothing too exciting but it was nice.
Life is definately good for us, just a bit chaotic. We went to Chico over the weekend of the 19th and 20th for the state bowling tournament. We had an enjoyable time. Brian bowled on the saturday with his team and they did alright. We went to the best restuarant in Chico for dinner and found it to be the new least desireable eatery. (that story in a few. Brian went back to bowl in a masters tourney that evening and did very very well, he has a pretty good chance of heading back for the finals because he did so well. It was definately worth it. We also saw Don and Janae, Trevor and Shaylee... they are so cute. Besides that it has been the regular routine... work/ childcare, bowling (we are doing a couples summer league on tues. nights. For as good as Brian is- I am equally bad... but practice makes better...lol), then we have of course the chores around the house and ocassional get togethers with coworkers and friends. It is amazing how busy life is and then thinking about it, how much of the business we create for ourselves.
Kristy has jokes lately. Yesterday she was asking, Mommy do you know how to spell _______ (milk/water/dishes/happy/chuck-e-cheese, etc.) I would respond, "yes do you know how to spell it?" She would laugh and say NO and quickly ask if I could spell something else. Of all the things we went through she still remembers how to spell cool. She's learning and having fun in the process.

Brian and Kristy have been enjoying playing games, Kristy is much more into physical activities, she loves to go in the back yard and hit balls around with her bat. She made more shots than she missed when she was playing basketball with the mini hoop. And of course bowling is another favorite, sadly enough she with bumppers can give me a run for my money. Of course if I play with the bumpers its more of a fair game... lol.



Katy is grabbing onto toys now and responds very quickly to people. If you are lucky you get a big smile followed by a giggle, if you arent so lucky you will get the full out cry that a friend told me "should be bottled and sold to planned parenthoods across the nation". She is really growing so fast. She is a talker as long as she has a clean bottom and full belly... and if she isnt talking in that situation she is sleeping. She is such a breath of fresh air. (and she started crying as I wrote that...lol)
