2 weeks

We have adjusted pretty well at this point. We are still trying to find the balance of everyone getting equal attention, Kristy has very strong ideas of how things should be and every now and then she gets really upset because it cant be just how she wants it. I do have to say she has more patience than I do. Katy still sleeps, eats and poops for a living. What a life. She weighs 10 lbs 4 oz and is 22 1/4 inches long at 2 weeks old. Dr. says all is well she is healthy.

We made an extremely short trip to Chico. We drove up Saturday afternoon and came home Sunday evening. We went to see Brians Grandma, she has been diagnosed with terminal cancer in her lungs and liver. The girls both did very well, although the drive was much longer than usual due to feeding Katy. We figured out we dont have what we used to and will not be making that quick a trip anymore. It was worth pushing ourselves to see Grandmas expression when she saw Katy, her face absolutely lit up. There was irony in the meeting, the begining of one life and the ending of another... anyway, here are some pics. Enjoy

Happy Birthday, Katy!

February 14, 2007
Woke up with contractions, timed them and they were about 15 minutes apart. Decided to take care of a few things in case Brian and I needed to take an early drive to my appointment. I ran my errands and returned at the same time Brian pulled up. He had called to check on me and my mom had told him I was running the errand and was having contractions, its going to happen. So we went an hour early to the Dr.'s office. The nurse sent us to the hospital and so it began. Got to triage at 10, was monitored for 2 hours then moved to labor and delivery. The pain started to steadily get worse and about 1:30 I got the beloved epideral. The Dr. came and broke my water at 2:30 and returned at 3:20 in time to say, "push!" I pushed and after many grunts groans and screams, at 3:35, Katy was here.

Weighing in at 10 lbs 1 oz, and 21 1/4" long she surprised us all. Especially the Dr. who 2 weeks earlier told me I could not be induced without the baby being overly big (9 lbs +) or having a medical emergency. No harm no foul. I even had to laugh when it was all done, had I had any real clue... but we made it through. We have a very healthy baby girl. We came home today and all is as good as can be expected, maybe even a little better than that. Enjoy and we will update soon.

Family

We have had family visit, we were hoping they would all meet Katy, but obviously I am still pregnant so it was just a nice visit. Mom is in town for a few weeks, we are really hoping Katy comes before mom has to leave. Don, Janea and Trevor came down to visit for a couple days, they returned home today. It was nice to visit and Kristy and Trevor had so much fun. Today Grandma Dodson, Aunt Becky and Aunt Candy came up from San Diego for a few hours to visit. We had a good time and look forward to more visits.
