One of the craziest days in a while. The air shows are always interesting. It was a lot of work for the base but well worth it. They are estimating a turn out of 175k-250k people. The traffic was backed up from the flight line to Ave D on the 14 fwy (about 20 miles) and about 30 miles out the north on the 58. It was nice to see the pilots get to show off some fancy flying and to get up close to the aircraft.
The guys and gals who were lucky enough to work really got beat up. It was pure insanity. Brian pulled a 16 hour day!
We found a spot with our friends the Halverstadts and enjoyed the show. Bad pic but it give the idea.
Kristy loved every minute of it. The freebies and seeing her teacher on the weekend.... life couldnt get better.
Katy on the other hand was not impressed with all the noise and was unsure of most everything down to the shuttle bus we rode to get there to avoid the insanity of parking.
All in all and enjoyable event. It really made me think what is the draw for people to wait 3 hours to get here for this and it made me remember my curiosity when I first came to visit Brian and began my knowledge of the air force. It is our everyday regular life but to others it is unique and different.
